Investigators say a forklift鈥檚 overheated brakes are among the suspected causes of a massive fire at a South Columbus recycling center. 

Fire Battalion Chief Tracy Smith says they haven鈥檛 made any final determinations.

"There are a few other options that they are looking at at this point," Smith says.

"Because of the large dollar loss, obviously, we wants to be completely accurate in the determination."

Smith says owners of Phoenix Recycling on Marion Road estimate damages of up to $8 million.

Smith says the fire is likely the city鈥檚 largest since another on the same site 25 years ago.
