Ohio is allowing intermediate care facilities, for people with intellectual disabilities, to resume indoor visitations on Monday.
To limit the spread of COVID-19, intermediate care facilities across the state were restricted from allowing visitors except for end-of-life situations. Now visitors are permitted again as long as the facilities follow safety protocols from the
Visitors must schedule in advance, and be screened for COVID-19 each time they enter the facilities – ideally through one point of entry.
Residents cannot have visitors if they are in isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure. Facilities should still encourage contact-less visits, and hand sanitizer and personal protective equipment should be readily available.
The Department of Health encourages indoor visitations to occur in a dedicated room or building, free of other residents.
