In an effort to bring listeners more stories from around Ohio, 89.7 NPR News and The Ohio Newsroom are launching a new segment.
It鈥檚 called 鈥淭oday from The Ohio Newsroom鈥 and will air on public radio stations around the state beginning Monday, June 12. 89.7 NPR News listeners can hear it at 5:45 and 7:45 a.m. every weekday.
鈥淭he mission is to cover the entirety of Ohio,鈥 said Clare Roth, Managing Editor of the Ohio Newsroom, which will produce the daily segment.
鈥淲e already have great public radio stations like WOSU鈥, but what we don鈥檛 have is coverage of small communities that reporters just can鈥檛 get to as easily. So that鈥檚 what my teams does,鈥 Roth said.
Roth and her team, which includes reporters and , hit the ground running this spring and have already been producing stories, including features on rural rent prices, sexual abuse education in Ohio schools, and Ohio farmers seeking the 鈥渞ight to repair.鈥
鈥淭oday from The Ohio Newsroom鈥 will also include lighter stories, including a look at the boom in beekeeping in Ohio and the only remaining washboard manufacturer in the U.S.
鈥淩eally its going too introduce you to new neighbors and new stories from all around the state,鈥 Roth said.
