An Ohio State University鈥檚 women鈥檚 basketball coach accused of drunk driving had his attorney appear in court for him on Tuesday.
Dublin Police arrested Kevin McGuff on the evening of May 6 after he reportedly drove through a residential yard near his home.
McGuff denied drinking, but failed several intoxication tests given by a police officer, including saying the alphabet from 鈥淒鈥� to 鈥淩鈥� without singing. McGuff could only say "D," according to a police report.
In the report, the responding officer also noted that McGuff was slow to respond to questions and smelled like alcohol.
Police took away McGuff鈥檚 license when he refused to do a breath test. A judge in Dublin Mayor鈥檚 Court temporarily reinstated McGuff鈥檚 driving privileges on Tuesday.
The attorney also submitted a not guilty plea on McGuff's behalf.
McGuff has been the head coach for OSU鈥檚 women鈥檚 basketball team since 2013.
The team finished third in the Big Ten in the 2024-25 season, with an overall record of 26-7. McGuff was named to the Naismith Coach of the Year Watch List for a third consecutive season.
The Ohio State University Athletic Department did not immediately respond to WOSU's request for comment.
